The words that you use to express yourself send a strong message about who you are and what you know. In fact, your vocabulary and the use of appropriate words say more about you than the message you are trying communicate.

When asked ANY question—-

“HmHm” – IS NOT AN ANSWER – it’s a grunt of sorts.

If you are in-person (and they can see you) and you want to show that you are in agreement with a statement, while maintaining eye-contact and nodding – it could be an acceptable answer to say HmHm.

BUT, NOT – when you are asked a direct question.

“MmMm” – “UhUh,” are forms of grunting. Cavemen probably grunted to communicate.
These sounds are primitive, prehistoric, and unprofessional. NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Yes or No are the acceptable answers to direct questions.

“You have to remember that the hard days are what make you stronger. The bad days make you realize what a good day is. If you never had any bad days, you would never have that sense of accomplishment!”
