Dear Interview Coach
I have my 4th interview with the same company next week. I have spent two hours each time I have
visited. They want me to tour their facilities and their manufacturing plant. What can I expect?
Hoping for an offer in Ohio.
Dear Hoping
It’s not unusual today for a company to call you back several times. There are more candidates to
choose from and a lot of companies are being extra cautious.
Whatever you have been doing, keep up the good work. It sounds like they really are interested in you.
This visit will most likely be different than the others because they now want to share with you what
they have to offer.
The office tour may include some introductions to key people in various departments. Make sure you
walk and talk with confidence. You are still under the microscope. Now is the time to listen and observe.
Listen for names as you are introduced, or try to get a card. Show an interest in the person being
introduced and what part he or she plays in the company.
TOO LONG A SENTENCE – LAUNDRY LISTS – BREAK IT UP.
I AM NOT A FAN OF LAUNDRY LISTS –
Word, word, word, word, …..
BY MAKING THE POINTS WITH INDEPENDENT STATEMENTS THEY HAVE MORE OF AN IMPACT –
ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE – THEY – WILL BE TAKING NOTES.
EXAMPLE OF A LAUNDRY LIST –
I LIKE CAMPING, HIKING, MOTORBIKING, SKIING, SNOW BOARDING.
BREAK IT UP SO THAT IT CAN BE ABSORBED BY THE LISTENER.
DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER – I LIKE OUTDOOR SPORTS AND ACTIVITES –
IN THE SUMMER, I LIKE TO GO CAMPING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
I LIKE TO HIKE WHEN WE CAMP, AND SOMETIMES WE ARE ABLE TO MOTORBIKE.
BUT WHEN IT’S WINTER, YOU’LL FIND ME SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING.
