Gone are the days of standing in line at the Job Fair with resume in hand to wait to talk to a recruiter.

The “end game” is still waiting to talk with the recruiter, but the process is on “speed dial.”

I have not attended a Virtual Job Fair – but, from what I’ve seen from people talking on tv, the entire process is virtual.

It starts with a company name – you select, and you are what they call “the room” where there are a list of job openings. You indicate an interest and then you wait to be addressed by a recruiter (internal or external).

The challenge, as I understand it, is to be able to tell them why you want the job and are qualified for the job in four minutes. There is a clock on your screen – and it’s counting down.

The similarity between the Job Fair of past and this new Virtual Job Fair is that you had better know what you want, and why you want it. And, you had better know what you can bring to the job that they would be seeking.
